a blogpost about the concerns of mass tourism in Venice back in 2012; since then, the situation appears to have deteriorated further. Mayor Luigi Brugnaro, took what he calls, '
extraordinary measures' recently by setting up visitor-only routes, in a bid to '...guarantee public safety, security and livability'; these helped separate the locals from the tourists in the world heritage city. Although this was an experiment, the routes would be implemented again if they proved successful.
