Digital Skills Gap

It has been established that there is a significant digital skills gap in the UK. The Government's 2016 report: Digital Skills for the UK Economy' addressed the shortages, risks and opportunities in this area and put forward their recommendations, which were further supported by 'The Digital Skills Crisis', published by the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee. This blog reports on the various government initiatives that are underway around the country, showing people how they can benefit from the internet

In terms of industry, Accenture has also written extensively on the topic and the 'The Digital Talent Gap' report asks what employers can do to support their workforce. The Digital Marketing Skills Benchmark was published earlier this year; the study assesses the skills of nearly 5000 people, combining raw data on where skill levels currently lie with an aim to help UK industry make informed decisions about improving skills and to reinforce the need for a culture of on-going learning in all organisations.
