ATLAS are a tourism-focussed organisation which promotes tourism teaching and leisure-related subjects; they aim to promote links between professional bodies in tourism, leisure and associated subjects and to liaise on educational issues, curriculum development and professional recognition of courses.They have a number of special interest groups set up:

Over the past 20 years, the ATLAS Cultural Tourism Research Programme has been monitoring the cultural tourism market for more information on the characteristics, behaviour and motivations of cultural tourists, through visitor surveys and studies of cultural tourism policies and suppliers.
